PETAL FETISH | A SULTRY SURRENDER | 2023 A story upon the skin of roses lingering last in the hot hour of an August afternoon as the fields become dry and the seeds fall to the night An unfoldment of red wine sipped slowly, caressing the senses with soft plums, tannin, wood, and jammy preserves. All is better felt with the eyes closed. Barely there swirls of fine leather, dry subtle spice and sweet juices awaken the subconscious appetite for romance and closeness. As the land celebrates wildflowers in every imaginable color, nostalgia and sustenance reverberate. The freshly hung tobacco is seen peeking through the red wood panels of the countryside. There is a comfort in change as it is laced with the familiar. I wanted to bring this favorite back, while giving it more depth, complexity, roundness, and sultry facets, and still keep the integrity of the original which hinged on the balance of jams and leathers. The updated 2023 batch includes a chocolatey nuanced extraction of true orris roots, which add a timeless feeling and extended longevity, along with a je ne sais quoi that only orris can provide. The opening is deeply juicy, with fresh, ripe oranges, not unlike a messy bite into dripping fruit on a summer day. Abundant, mouth watering, primal. As it unfolds on the skin it maintains a sophisticated ambery sweetness that gives structure to the floral bouquet and jammy, leathery tobacco notes. Woven into the wear, you might find woods, sweet waxy facets, mineral hints, and steeped tea with honey.
