I wanted to make something that reflected what I consider the "comforting melancholia" of Portishead. I feel like this was a tight wire - too many heavy notes would bring it into amber and incense territory, while too many light notes would bring it into clean-fruity and lose the heaviness. Hopefully, I've succeeded.
