Les Lunatiques

A scent that evokes the creamy, pearlescent surface of the moon and the florid nature of the celestial expanse above. Within the abyss, the heavens unfurl and glimmer; brushstrokes of moonlight and strange, distant places. What answers when you invite the vast, cold universe to dance? Notes of: absinthe haze, night-blooming jasmine, rosewood accord, opoponax, orris root, copal, sandalwood. musk, myrrh. A resinous and lactonic musk fragrance. Lunatic ; of ‘lunacy’, translated literally as ‘of the moon ’ ’—applicably of pejorative use toward a person of ‘extrava gant folly’, whose intermittent bouts of upset and derangement are dictated by the waxing and waning of the Moon. Unsurprisingly, the common usage of the terms finds its roots in misogyny, and has been used to denigrate radical thinkers, deep feelers, and anyone whose behaviour fell out of line from patriarchal ideas of what and who is rational. In this olfactory interpretation of the lunar effect, we choose to strip the word of its corrupted and oppressive connotation, and instead lean into the lunarian motions of feeling profoundly, speaking expressively, and dreaming abundantly, dancing beneath the Moon’s glow in reverence.
